Hell’s Kitchen Flea Market: Fashion Shoppers Seeking Summer Style

Chelsea Flea Market

The Hell’s Kitchen Flea has always been known as a destination for anyone looking for unique collectibles, jewelry, and antiques. But in recent years, one of the flea’s best-kept secrets has begun to leak out: It’s a super destination for fashion shoppers in search of both new and vintage-chic pieces for their summer collection.

Flea market style is a science for many of the regular shoppers at the Hell’s Kitchen Flea, and summer is the time when they arrive early to score vintage shoes and bags to pair with sheer summer dresses, topped with a denim or leather jacket.

Vendors at the flea regularly offer exceptional values on new summer dresses as well as vintage cutoffs that pair with one-of-a-kind graphic t-shirts. Indeed for $85, one of our regulars recently put together an outfit for her afternoon Pokémon hunt: surfer shorts, a graphic T, and a leather jacket.

And the shoes! Shoes from every era of New York's fashion history can be found at the Hell's Kitchen Flea. From the spiked stilettos of punk rock to mid-twentieth century pastel wingtips to vintage couture, it's all there for determined shoppers to find. "I found Hermes loafers at the flea for a song!” said one excited shopper last Saturday. "I can't wait to see what I can find this weekend!"

Tell us about your fashion finds at the Hell's Kitchen Flea. We'd love to feature it in our Flea Fashion Notebook and on Facebook!
