Market Muse: We've Got the Blues

Chelsea Flea Market

We’ve got the blues and we’re talking about with fashion! We’re taking a cue of inspiration from Bill Cunningham, fashion photographer and one of our favorite market shoppers, and exploring the world of fashion in the shade of blue.

Spotted on NYC streets Cunningham has artfully captured the many hues of blue fashion that have become a fashion statement throughout NYC this winter. Cunningham shared with the New York Times his take on the sudden burst of blue jackets, trousers, scarves and hats that have been hitting the pavement of New York City. He encouraged people to not go out in search of blue threads but rather to search their own wardrobes for shades of blue to blend with their everyday attire.

Artfully refreshed and inspired by all of these blues, here are some great ways that you can be too!

  • Pop of Color:  blue accessories are the perfect way to add a pop of color in the middle of winter. Bundle up with a thick knit blue scarf or with chunky blue socks.
  • Complete an outfit: sometimes all you need is one additional garment to complete an outfit. A basic blue blazer or midnight blue trouser is the perfect way to create a polished look.
  • Basic blues: don’t forget about your favorite blue jeans. They may be an understated light blue, intense dark blue or somewhere in between. Regardless, they are an essential so be sure that you include them in your fashion mix.
