Sunday, May 1, was a tragic day for the Serbian Orthodox Cathedral of St. Sava in Chelsea! A fire tore through the stunning cathedral, leaving only the skeleton behind.
“In the wake of this tragic fire, we feel continued sympathy for the St. Sava congregation over the loss of their place of worship. We have immense gratitude for the ongoing efforts of all NYC agencies on behalf of all the small business vendors whose livelihoods are tied to the Chelsea Flea Market,” said Annex Markets owner Alan Boss. “I’m also proud of all of the vendors who patiently navigated through this tragedy, in particular, the Hell’s Kitchen Flea Market sellers who were ready to welcome all of their fellow vendors from Chelsea Flea in their possible time of need. It is a unique market culture of community among our vendors supporting each other.”
